Our Apprenticeship Program is a great way to kick-start your career and secure a pathway into our large and diverse workplace. Each year, G James undertakes a campaign to promote a range of apprenticeship opportunities across the following discipline areas:

How We Hire

Recruitment Process

We pride ourselves on conducting an equitable and transparent recruitment process to select the best talent.
Below is an outline of what typically to expect:

  • Application received (cover letter and resume)
  • Phone interview
  • Literacy, numerical and mechanical aptitude testing (dependent on position)
  • Face-to-face interview
  • Reference checking
  • Medical Assessment, including alcohol and drug testing
  • Offer


Requirements

There are minimum entry-level requirements that need to be considered before making your application to be a G James apprentice. You must:

  • be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident (New Zealand Citizens with a minimum of 6 months residency in Australia)
  • be at least 15 years of age or older at time of employment;
  • have completed a minimum of Year 10 or equivalent
  • proven attendance record (recent school or employment history)
  • passion to master a trade and motivation to succeed
  • the ability to work as part of a team
  • pass a pre-employment medical examination.


How to stand out

If you have previous work experience in a manufacturing environment or completed a pre-apprenticeship program, you will have a strong application to assist in progressing through our selection criteria.
