While Abian's multi-level, curved curtain wall exhibits a range of colours and reflections throughout any given day, undoubtedly the most identifiable feature is the seven-level, bell-shaped awning which skirts the tower's bottom section. To achieve this effect the facade had to be curved on two planes meaning each frame would be unique in shape and dimension, and the majority of the glass panes would have no square corners. Such a brief amounted to a significant engineering and design challenge for the builder, Sunland Group, and most certainly the preferred curtain wall manufacturer and contractor, G.James Facade Solutions.
Through the aid of specialised 3D modelling software, G.James painstakingly mapped every panel that made-up this impressive wave-shaped skirt. The nature of the shape demanded a rethink of the whole manufacturing, fabrication and installation process. Hence the decision to cold form (bend) each of the 1450 panels was made resulting in devising new ways for factory fabrication and site install. All the trapezoidal glass had to be pre-ordered resulting in improvements to the already stringent quality assurance processes. The final result was achieved through extensive engineering and amazing teamwork throughout.
The successful completion of this landmark building is a testament to G.James' in-house capabilities, industry experience and willingness to improve. G.James Facade Solutions - realise your project's true potential.”
