Situated on Bali's south coast, The Edge hotel had a vision of creating the ultimate infinity pool experience, one that would be synomous with the resort's mantra of 'defying convention and gravity'. 

Initial designs detailed a single, curved glass panel forming both the front and floor of a seven metre overhanging extension to the existing pool. Manufacturing limitations meant this concept was not possible however after some deliberation an alternative proposal using individual glass panels was accepted as being closest to the original design and, importantly, the most achievable. 

With the design settled, G.James proceeded to engage the services of their in-house engineers to calculate the hydrostatic load of the water and specify the glass thickness required for each of the three elevations. For each, the glass type specified was Heat Strengthened Laminate with some variance to the thicknesses - 25.5mm for the side returns, 67mm for the three floor panels and 81mm for the front, ocean-facing panel. 

A pre-install site visit (in Bali), a final review of the glass make-up and the installation method ensured G.James had completed their necessary due diligence. Once on-site the installation was successfully completed in 13 working days much to the delight of the resort's owner, management and guests. 

The Edge skypool rests 165 metres above sea level and easily ranks among the most picturesque in the world. G.James is proud to have been associated with this project which clearly demonstrates our willingness to work with clients, builders and architects to achieve the best outcome possible.
